There seems to be a debate when it comes to what the lifespan of a spandex bikini should be or actually is. So far, no one seems to have come up with an answer to this question. To many men, their bikinis made from spandex have lasted them through many swimming seasons and still look nearly new. Other men feel the need to replace their bikinis every summer and still others retire their bikinis twice a year. Of course, a lot of this depends on whether or not these men take care of their bikinis. Men who are careful of the way they wash their bikinis typically get a lot more wear out of them than those men who do not.
Many men are quite hard on their clothes and that includes a spandex bikini. They wear their bikinis in the sun, roll around in the sand while wearing them and swim in the salt water of the ocean every day. Admittedly, few things are as hard on any fabric, even spandex, than salt water. Couple that damage with the fading caused by a regular dosage of sun and you have got a faded, used looking bikini that you will probably feel quite unhappy about wearing in public. However, there are some ways to counteract these effects on the spandex. You can buy some detergent that is formulated specifically for delicate items. While spandex is certainly pretty sturdy material, it cannot hurt to use this type of detergent on your bikinis.
Something else that you might want to keep in mind when you are trying to get more wear out of your spandex bikini is not to use a dryer on them. Simply wash them in cold water and then hang them up to dry them. Dryers are wonderful inventions and definite time savers but the heat that most people use to dry their clothes as quickly as possible can do a lot to lessen the quality of spandex. Of course, if you are a more patient person, there is usually a cycle on dryers that can be used on delicate items. That might work instead of hanging them out to dry. What it all comes down to in getting as much wear from your spandex as possible is how well you take care of them. If you can do that, the life span of your bikinis will be quite long.
